An I*PROMS special session will be held at the Business Sustainability 2008 conference Ofir, Esposende - Portugal 25-27 June, 2008. This event is co-organised by the University of Minho.

Business Sustainability is, at the moment, virtually the most important perspective, and represents a “meta”-approach that embraces all other approaches in a dynamic way: Emergence of sustainability as one of the most important, if not the most important, perspectives for business is due to the fact that the concepts claimed in the past, even in the recent past, as the bases for the business success didn’t stand as such the test of the evolving environment. In the recent past, just to mention some well known strategies, the idea of productivity, as the base for business and economy success, has been replaced with the idea of competitiveness. However, today it is realised that competitiveness is not always the best way, but the best way is the collaborativeness. From this perspective, the following question has emerged: is the business growth the “final” objective? I.e. where are the limits of the growth? (As the growth limits exist for sure, especially from the perspective of a particular business).
