The European Network of Excellence for Innovative Production Machines and Systems (I*PROMS, http://www.iproms.org/ )will be organizing a special session in the ASME/IEEE International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots (ReMAR 2009) to be held at King’s College London, University of London, UK during 22-24 June 2009 under the leadership of the University of Patras. We would like to invite the partners of the NoE to submit papers in the proposed special session. The presentations are intended to stimulate discussions on future aspects of production systems, control technology and innovative design strategies in an international framework. The special session will be an effective contact platform for the participants not only for networking and formation of international research consortia, but also to discuss possibilities for further organizational links. To achieve this goal, contributions are welcome, which demonstrate the benefits of cooperation in production research for innovation and which provide a professional clear view for industrial IT in specified industries. Cooperative R&D and demonstration projects, in particular the European Future Manufacturing initiative, are invited to disseminate technologies and cooperation schemes in this special session. The technical focus for contributions is in general the common topics for Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robotics and I*PROMS.
