Salary circa £19,000pa pro rata

Wellstream is a dynamic, forward thinking, international company manufacturing a comprehensive portfolio of unbonded flexible pipeline products for the oil and gas industry.

The associate will be employed by Newcastle University but will work at Wellstream’s UK manufacturing site on the banks of the River Tyne at Walker Riverside. Advice and support will be provided by both industrial and academic personnel.

The project involves the practical application of statistics for process improvement, the use of comparative tests, measurement system analysis, design of experiments, statistical process control, lean six sigma and statistical software.

The suitable candidate will have:

• A good honours degree in statistics or other numerate degree with a significant statistical component.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels, along with good team working skills.
• Enthusiasm to apply statistical ideas in practice.

A higher degree will be advantageous but not obligatory.
