2nd International Researchers Symposium 2009 on Innovative Production Machines & Systems

22 - 24 July 2009, Ischia (Gulf of Naples), Italy

First Announcement and Call for contributions

Organised by

Department of Materials & Production Engineering University of Naples Federico II

Sponsored by

EC FP6 Network of Excellence on: Innovative Production Machines and Systems (I*PROMS)

Co-sponsored by

Ministry of University and Research (MiUR) Regional Government of Campania (RGC)

Scope

The main scopes of the 2nd IPROMS International Researchers Symposium are:

  • To present the most recent results from research activities and applications in the fields of Production Technology and Systems
  • To promote communication and collaboration by providing the opportunity, especially to young researchers, to present their work (e.g. CIRP Research Affiliate Member participation is free of charge)
  • To bring together people at different levels of experience to facilitate dissemination of information on research work being done at world wide level

Expert Group on the future of Networks of Excellence - Final Report

In this Final Report, achievements of NoEs are reviewed without aspiring to perform a full and detailed assessment of individual NoEs. A particular focus is directed towards the issues of ‘critical mass’ and ‘integration’. The expert group discusses the special nature of the ‘intermediate collective research goods’ NoEs are producing as well as the structural aspect of NoEs originally supposed to form a new intra-European layer of durable virtual research organisations. In that context, the group also considers the roles of NoEs for national research institutions, such as universities and research organisations.

Design of Experiments (DoE)

21/01/2009
21/01/2009

Design of Experiments (DoE) 1 day course 21st January 2009 to be held in Durham.

Design of Experiments is a vital business improvement technique. It allows organisations to improve quality, reduce operational costs and reduce waste and rework in a minimum time and at minimum cost. Experiments can be devised to improve existing processes, develop new products or develop new processes.

Typical DoE projects:
In the food industry, the effect on yield of process factors such as temperature, pasteurisation of raw milk and casein was investigated
In the plastics industry, the effect on hardness of process factors such as resin temperature, gravity of resin and oven temperature was investigated

IEEE INDIN 2009

24/06/2009
26/06/2009

IEEE INDIN is the premier conference series presenting the state of the art and future perspectives of industrial information technologies, where industry experts, researchers, and academics share ideas and experiences surrounding frontier technologies, breakthrough and innovative solutions and applications. The theme of INDIN 2009 is "Innovation in Production Machines and Systems" to recognize the critical importance of Industrial Informatics in innovation in industrial environments not only for the next generation of products but also production processes and systems. INDIN 2009 will be held on 24-26 June in Cardiff, the largest and capital city of Wales, UK.
