I*PROMS Joint Programme of Activities

categories

The I*PROMS Joint Programme of Activities (JPA) is a collective vehicle for achieving the objectives of the Network. It consists of a coherent set of new or re-oriented activities that the participants undertake jointly. The components of the JPA are:

Integration of European Research capacities: I*PROMS aims to integrate the activities of key EU research institutions in the field of production research. This will allow it holistically to address the entire field of production research in order to reshape the area and overcome its current fragmentation. With over 1200 multi-disciplinary researchers operating at or close to its hub and economically sharing large-scale facilities, I*PROMS will have the critical mass needed to create an integrated community of world-class production researchers.

Programme for Jointly Executed Research: I*PROMS's jointly executed research programme will address the six 'Manufacturing Challenges for 2020' through the four I*PROMS clusters, namely, Advanced Production Machines (APM), Production Automation and Control (PAC), Production Organisation and Management (POM) and Innovative Design Technology (IDT). These network clusters and their associated advanced technologies, address the key business and value drivers that impinge upon manufacturing organisations, whilst contributing to the knowledge-based, Autonomous Factory vision.

Spreading of Excellence and Exploitation and Dissemination of Results: I*PROMS aims constantly to provide, through training and education, the manufacturing industry of the future with a highly skilled, motivated and informed workforce. Using its extensive range of Industrial and Group Associates, I*PROMS will focus on spreading excellence primarily to SMEs and other industrial companies in the EU. It will adopt the well-tried methods currently employed by the partners, many of which are Centres of Excellence with established facilities for the dissemination and exploitation of knowledge outside the Network.
